Lao Wang Noodle House

This restaurant, although the best Chinese in Denver, is not a place I would recommend “willy-nilly” to my friends. Off the beaten path near Federal & Mississippi, this is one of the quirkiest restaurants I’ve ever been to. They have the best pork dumplings (Xaio Long Bao) and Potstickers in Colorado, but it’s not your normal restaurant. It’s owned and operated by an elderly couple who barely speak English, and there are several unspoken rules you need to know if you dare to venture out. I would, however, recommend with going someone who has been there before.

  1. On the weekdays, the restaurant opens at 6:00pm. I suggest you get there either before 6:00 and wait for it to open, or get there around 7:00pm when the first shift is finishing up. Best advice is to wait outside until a group leaves. Oh ya, there are only about 10 tables.
  2. Be ready to order as soon as they ask. Sometimes they don’t come back for a while.
  3. Be patient. It’s just them working the whole place, and they will get to you when they can. Trust me, it’s worth it for those dumplings.
