Bones is an Asian Fusion restaurant, particularly known for its noodle dishes, located near 7th & Grant in the Capital Hill neighborhood of Denver. Being a fan of Asian Fusion, I consider this one of the must-try restaurants in the area.
The dining area is intimate, so dinner reservations are highly recommended especially if you are a 4+ party, though I was able to get 6 co-workers in at lunchtime with no advanced reservation. There is also some outdoor seating available during the nicer times of year. Although they can accommodate a larger party with advanced notice, the ambiance and placement of tables really lends itself best to a small group or a date-night location.
Bones has a very targeted menu; traditionally there are only 5 main choices available: Chilled Vermicelli Noodles, Yakisoba, Udon, Lobster Ramen, or Green Chile Ramen, along with several excellent starter items.
For the times I’m not being as strict with my seafood-only diet, I consider the Steamed Buns (braised pig or pork belly) a must-have, as they are one of the best items on the entire menu. The Edamame starter dish, as well as the Crispy Brussels Sprouts starter dish, are excellent and make great table-share appetizers.
Of the main menu, my go-to item at Bones is the Lobster Ramen (shown in the accompanying photo), consisting of Lobster, Edamame, Beurre Blanc, Scallion, and Miso Lobster Broth. My various Bones dining companions tell me that the Green Chile Ramen (Braised Pork Shoulder, Hominy, Cotija, Jalapeño, Cilantro, and Poached Egg) is also amazing.
Bones is not a low-cost option, with most of the main dishes costing $15+, however it has a loyal following due to its excellent food, nice location, and good drink selection. If you enjoy Asian Fusion and Noodle dishes, consider checking it out the next time you are in Capital Hill, and possibly combining it with a stop at nearby Lala’s Wine Bar to sample some of their excellent offerings.
