I’m just going to say it. Humboldt Farm-Fish-Wine is quickly becoming a favorite for me. The restaurant has exceptionally good food, a unique menu, and fresh ingredients. The atmosphere is also wonderful, with a large patio and an inside with a lot of natural light. It’s located on 17th in Uptown, on Humboldt Street, in the building on the corner where Strings used to be.
We ordered several appetizers—the Brussel Sprouts, Sausage and Cheddar Fritters, and the Trout Dip (pictured here with the fritters). THE TROUT DIP. Let me just say that it is crazy delicious and I will order it every time I come in the future. It is served in a jar with sweet onion jam on top, complete with homemade kettle chips. Perfect texture, or as my friend would say, a great mouth feel. For our entrees, a friend and I shared the Chicken Katsu (picture below), which is basically gourmet chicken and waffles. My gluten-free friend ordered the Humboldt Hash, which was also very good. It had fresh vegetables, eggs, and hollandaise. Our waiter was so attentive, and the restaurant treated my friend’s gluten allergy with an appreciated, and surprisingly rare, seriousness. Wonderful experience. I love Humboldt.
