I’ve been to The Kitchen several times, and my favorite experiences always end up being happy hour, or what they call “Community Hour”, from 3-6pm. I recently went with a friend, and we sat on the patio, drank cocktails, and ordered some appetizers. I like The Kitchen because of the atmosphere and how delicious and fresh the food is. Their menu is on the pricey side for dinner, but is very reasonable for happy hour. We shared their Goat Gouda Gougere, the Artisanal Cheese Plate, and accidentally also had the King Crab Legs. It was my first experience eating crab at a restaurant (crab legs are usually saved for birthday dinners at my parent’s) and I really enjoyed it! At the end, they give you a hot towel and a lemon, which I had no idea what to do with, but luckily my friend is a crab veteran and showed me the ropes. Hint: the lemon takes the smell of crab away from your hands. Anyway, it’s fun to sit on the patio right off 16th Street, people-watch, and be a part of the energy of downtown. I even got a really nice picture of flowers from a kind man walking by. If you sit inside, it feels like a really comfortable bistro. It’s a great restaurant to keep in your back pocket if you’re looking for some fine dining in downtown.
