I am so wowed by The Populist. My mom and I recently went there for drinks and appetizers and had the best experience. It’s located in a really discreet looking building in RiNo, close to Infinite Monkey Theorem. We sat on their fabulous courtyard patio covered in vines with little lights above. We sat at one of the community tables and ordered a bottle of Rose. There was a very nice couple next to us that we made friends with throughout the evening. To start, we had the Salt & Vinegar popcorn. Delicious and surprisingly not soggy! (How do they do that?) Next, we had the Sweetbread and Liver Mousse. It was so well-plated, with nuts, sauces, and toasted bread (pictured below). I’m a huge pate fan, and this was so perfect, with lots of interesting textures and sauces. We also shared a plate of the Agnolotti, which was so yummy. The food is gourmet, but not pretentious. I can’t wait to go back and have more items on their menu, in different seasons, and have new experiences at The Populist. It’s a very cozy place, and not too loud, so I would recommend it as a good date spot, or a nice happy hour, or dinner with a few close friends or family.
