I enjoy a variety of coffee styles from straight black, no sugar, to those fancy drinks where it seems you consume more foam and syrups than coffee. Working around a lot of indie coffee shops, it seems like I have a go-to place for whatever style coffee or tea I’m in the mood for.
As the weather cools, I find myself returning to a standing favorite, a Chai Latté with almond milk, and my go-to spot for that drink, Amante Coffee. There are a handful of coffee shops in town I trust with my Chai Latté order, though only a couple I trust to make it properly dirty (i.e., add espresso).
At the heart of a Chai Latté is of course the tea, and this is where I think Amante really shines. Unlike most coffee shops where a Chai Latté equals whatever brand of chai they choose to use, Amante gives you a choice between 3 chai brands – Third St. Chai, Bhakti Chai, or Sherpa Chai.
The choice of which chai brand to use can noticeably impact your Chai Latté. Having the option to experiment a bit lets you find the best flavor profile for you. My personal favorite is the Bhakti Chai, which is a bolder/spicier presence in the drink.
Amante is a Boulder-based local company. Within Denver they have one current location in LoDo, right next to the Oxford Hotel on 17th (near Union Station). Check it out and enjoy!
