Roostercat is popular weekend stop around my house, particularly since they switched a couple of months ago from coffeeshop pastries to offering freshly prepared breakfast and lunch options. Shown in the accompanying photo is one of my favorite combinations there, a bagel sandwich with egg, tomato, arugula and mozzarella, paired with a mocha latte made with almond milk. The upgraded food options plus the excellent coffee make this a must-stop breakfast/lunch destination if you are in the area.
Roostercat is just off Lincoln Street, between 10th & 11th, but the very large outdoor patio is set below ground level, offering a feeling of being both disconnected and right in the heart of the busy Capital Hill. If there is still a bit too much street noise for you, there is a more intimate side patio that is much more shaded. I personally prefer the front patio. Unless it is actively snowing the patio can be considered a year-round destination. There’s shade when it’s needed, and gas fire pits providing warmth when it’s needed. As you can see from the patio photo, it’s dog-friendly too! As long as your buddy waits outside while you get your coffee and food, he is welcome to join you on the patio.
