When I think of Vert Kitchen, three words come to mind: Fresh, healthy, and sunshine. Vert is a quaint café located near Wash Park. I’ve been there a few times with a good friend, and each time we’re impressed with our food and happy with our experience. They have delicious sandwiches, salads, and soups, made with organic, locally grown produce and natural, sustainable meats. Their menu changes frequently, so you never know what you’re going to get until you arrive.
There are only a few seats inside, so I would recommend going with one or two other people. There’s a beautiful patio in the back, tucked away in an urban setting. Everyone who works there is friendly, and their service is great. You order at the counter and they deliver your food to you, so your lunch can be as long as you want it be.
I ordered the Croque Monsieur, because I love cheese and bread. The texture was nice and crunchy, which I love, and the salad served with it had apples and pomegranates. I actually ate my whole salad, which if you know me, is rare.
My friend, on the other hand, loves salad, and she ordered the Duo Soup & Side Salad, getting a fall-inspired salad with squash, avocado, sesame seeds, and mix greens, along with some well-flavored tomato soup.
They have alcoholic beverages as well and are open until 8:00pm. It’s a hidden gem of Wash Park.
Fun idea: Grab some lunch at Vert, and then walk a few blocks to Wash Park, where you can walk around the lakes in the park.
