Homegrown is one of my favorite restaurants for pizza in Denver, particularly in the summertime when you can sit on their patio. It’s located on Old South Gaylord Street, close to Max Gill & Grill, Wash Park Grille, and Devil’s Food. Park Burger owns it, so you know it’s going to be good.
This time I went with a friend on a Monday night to grab a bite after an awesome shopping spree at W Boutique on Gaylord. It was actually my first time sitting inside (since I have always sat on the patio) and I found it very cozy. We sat at the bar, where we got to chat with the bartender. We learned that all bottles of wine are 50% off on Monday nights, so we ordered a bottle of Pinot Noir.
Also, based on my friend’s recommendation (and because it sounded so good), we ordered the Croque Pizza, with white sauce, ham, eggs, cheese, and…potato chips. It was so random, but very delicious.
I also recommend The Funguy, which is another white pizza with mushrooms, prosciutto, and truffle oil. You can also make your own, so everyone in your party can be happy with what they order. A couple months ago, I went to Homegrown with a friend who is dairy free, and he was pleasantly surprised that they had his favorite brand of dairy free cheese called Daiya.
They also have great salads, and my friend and I split the Kale Salad (pistachios, sun dried cherries, parmesan & lemon), which I would never have ordered, but she recommended it. It was my first Kale Salad that I really liked, and I think it was because the lemon cut the bitterness of the kale, and the crunch of the nuts along with the fruit was perfect. I would actually order it again!
Last but not least, my favorite part about Homegrown is their fantastic draft list and rotating taps. They always have a great selection, so you can try a different beer every time you go. Their happy hour is from 3-6 Monday through Friday, and have both food and drink specials.
