I went to Germany 5 years ago, and fell in love with schnitzel and spaetzle. When I got back to Denver, I was surprised and sad to find out that there was a severe lack of good German food. Cafe Berlin was yummy, but recently shut down, so the only option was to wait until Oktoberfest every year to find the German catering tent (with the German flag on the top) and scarf down some schnitzel with a large stein of beer.
Luckily, Rein Haus recently opened in downtown, and I’m happy to report that they have all the great German things, including schnitzel, spaetzle, pretzels, beers, and bratwursts. We went there for lunch, and while it was a little expensive, it was totally worth it. The schnitzel came with a lemon butter with apple slaw, and actually was enough food to have leftovers for dinner. My friends got various brats, with fries on the side, and loved it. If you want to go for a lighter meal, but still enjoy the schnitzel, I would suggest getting the caesar salad with pork. (Obviously not German, but still delicious.)
They also have walk-in bocce for $5 a person, which I look forward to trying out! Now on the hunt for Jagerschnitzel in Denver…
