Located on East Colfax, just 2 blocks east of the Colorado State Capital, Lost Highway Brewing Company primarily serves up locally brewed traditional Belgian-style beers, with names that are heavily influenced by the surrounding Capital Hill neighborhood and the long history of the most infamous street in Denver – Colfax Avenue.
I like the feel of the Lost Highway taproom. It is more spacious than you would expect given the density of the building it is located in. The tables are spaced well so that you can still move around as it starts to get more crowded. I love the giant Connect 4 and the classic pinball and video game arcade machines. I also like that they offer some simple food items beyond nuts/popcorn such as sandwiches and personal pizzas.
Beer-wise, Lost Highway isn’t one of my all-time favorites, but I still like to stop in every so often. My go-to beer at Lost Highway is the Poet Session IPA (6%). I also like the O.G. Colfax Porter and the hopKat Lager (6%). If I feel like something counter to the bitterer Poet IPA, the Golden Ghost with its bubblegum and cotton candy notes is an interesting choice.
If you head in there soon they may still have the following specialty beers on tap. The Almond Coconut Porter (5.5%) is only served on the 2nd & 4th Thursday of each month. I finally managed a taste a couple of weeks ago, and I was a little disappointed. It was a good Porter, but I prefer my beers a bit more flavorful that I found this particular porter to be. One specialty beer currently on tap that I do recommend is Fourth Estate, a 6.5% Belgian Chocolate Stout made with Ghirardelli Belgian chocolates.
Parking on and around Colfax is a challenge, so I suggest you look for street parking along Pennsylvania or Pearl streets. Also, Lost Highway is located just 4 blocks from the Ogden Theatre, so you could easily combine a show with visit to the first CO craft brewery to open on Colfax.
