Every Mother’s Day, we do some form of wine, cheese, and meats with our mom. Since this year was a little chilly, we opted for an indoor picnic/charcuterie experience. We went to the Truffle Table, which is a quaint little restaurant next door to Forest Room 5 in the Highlands.
Knowing that charcuterie can be on the expensive side, we decided to go at 4pm on a Sunday and hit their happy hour. They are open every day but Monday, and are open until 10p or 11p every night, making it a great place to stop by for some quick cheese and wine when you get the hankering (which, let’s face it, is always).
Their Happy Hour has specials for both wine & food, with select glasses of wine only $5, and their cheese board only $10. We combined items from the happy hour and regular menu for our foodie feast.
We ordered the charcuterie board, with 3 meats and 3 cheeses, and loved all of them. We also got the lamb meatballs with tzatziki, which we were fighting over, because they were so juicy and flavorful. And you can’t go to a place known for cheese without ordering their mac & cheese, so we did. And we weren’t disappointed! The Black Truffle Mac & Cheese came in a hot cast iron skillet, with a breadcrumb topping, and I kept finding myself going back for more.
Next time we go back, we’ll have to order one of their many choices of grilled cheese (I’m leaning towards the French Onion Grilled Cheese), their Duck Liver Mousse (which they were out of, so sad), and/or their Cheese Fondue. Such a good find!

Afterwards, we traipsed over to Little Man Ice Cream and got ourselves some ice cream for the drive back. If you haven’t tried it, I highly recommend the Salted Oreo ice cream sandwich. Not too sweet, not too rich–it’s actual perfection. I also recently had a sample of the Twix ice cream, and actually ordered a scoop of it and loved it. (This is a big deal for a non-chocolate lover.)
